It’s past time for a holiday! For a new adventure, whatever that means to you. It could be sipping cocktails on a sunny beach with your kids playing (quietly) somewhere else, hiking through charted wilderness, or hitting up the best shopping spots in whatever side of the world you find yourself.
But before one can enjoy a vacation, one must plan the vacation. That’s where we come in, with our list of websites you can use to find the best hotel deals and cheap flights.
And if you’re in need of some added tips on how to holiday on a budget in Australia, we’ve also got a blog for that. Read this blog first, then go and read that one!
Let’s get started.
TL:DR—There are many third party comparison and booking websites out there. Use them for research and to scope out the best deals but, where possible, you might want to book directly with the airline, hotel, or experience provider in question. You may be able to get a cheaper price that way, or negotiate the price based on the deals you found.
Flight Centre
Trustpilot: 4.5 ⭐ in 2025
You know it, you love it, you might’ve used it in the past. Flight Centre is one of the oldest players in the travel deals game, starting out as a pure travel agent before becoming, in their words, the centre for travel. Remember travel agents? They’re still around in 2025, but damn, talk about a blast from the past.
Flight Centre is a comparison and booking website that covers everything you need for travel, from flights and hotels to cruises, car hire, and packages. They make it simple to begin planning a holiday—simply throw in your dates and location to browse to your heart’s content.
How it can help
TL;DR—As a comprehensive reading tool that combines every aspect of travel in one handy place.
Where Flight Centre shines is the holistic nature of its service; it provides you with everything you need relating to a trip. For that reason, it’s worth its weight in gold as a research tool. But when it comes to booking, you might end up paying a premium for the convenience it provides, especially for more complex, multi-leg holidays.
It’s always a good idea to compare the cost shown on Flight Centre to the actual hotel, airline, tour provider etc. That way you can be sure you’re actually getting the best deal. It can often be better to use third party sites like Flight Centre as a jumping off point before booking directly with a chosen provider.
This is especially true for simpler holidays. If you’ve got a return flight and a stay at a single hotel, you may as well go directly to the source. If you’ve got a complex, multi-stage trip coming up that spans continents, events, and flights, Flight Centre may be a great option. Just make sure you’re fully informed about that option.
Luxury Escapes
Trustpilot: 4.8 ⭐ in 2025
Luxury Escapes is a holiday booking site that provides travel packages at up to 70% off (according to their website). They accomplish this by negotiating directly with their travel partners to secure exclusive offers.
What’s quite good about Luxury Escapes is that they provide you with a lot of variety, in terms of location, tours, and prices—you can find international packages that prioritise value as well as packages that lean more towards the luxury part of the escape.
How it can help
TL;DR—As a hub for holiday and experience packages all around the world, at a range of different price points.
Simply scroll down on any given page—tours or hotels, for example—and you’ll find sections dedicated to both deluxe experiences and value experiences. Then you can filter further from there to find your ideal getaway. Another little bonus to Luxury Escapes appears to be the addition of ‘handpicked’ VIP inclusions that give your trip a bit more oomph.
They claim to offer deals you cannot find anywhere else, but we will always advocate for a bit of extra research on the side; on the deal itself, the hotel, flights, location—pretty much a bit of everything.
It can be incredibly worthwhile to scope out reviews of past experiences from real people. We’ve included links to the Trustpilot pages of each of the sites that you can peruse, but you can also search for honest opinions through reddit. There will be a mix of opinions that you can use to better inform your trip.
Speaking of informing your trip, the Beforepay app has a handy little budgeting section that you can use to set yourself a savings goal. With every pay, you’ll be able to set some cash aside and watch the number get higher and higher, a live countdown to holiday time.
How was that for a segue?
Skyscanner
Trustpilot: 4.4 ⭐ in 2025
Skyscanner is a search and comparison website for flights, hotels, and car hire. They don’t deal with the bookings or provide tickets, they simply collate all the information together and direct you to third-party websites to make the bookings.
Remember this, it’s important.
To find your deals, you simply input your travel details and you’ll be served up a list of all the available offers, across an assortment of price ranges and providers. You can then click through any particular offer to find more information about it.
How it can help
TL;DR—As a specific resource helping people to discover cheap flight and hotel deals for destinations all over the world.
Skyscanner is an excellent resource for browsing flight and hotel deals provided by airlines, travel providers, and hotels around the world. You can think of it as a kind of niche Google search, specifically focused on travel.
Skyscanner’s simple search feature allows you to browse pertinent travel deals across global destinations, with a simple opt-in to include hotels alongside cheap airline tickets.
But it doesn’t handle the bookings through its own platform. It directs you to third party websites to complete the booking—some of these are reliable and trustworthy, others may be less so. It is recommended to search up each travel provider and do additional research before booking.
That’s why Skyscanner is best used as a jumping off point for finding deals, similar to how you can use Flight Centre. Once you’ve found the perfect deal, follow it up through the provider directly.
One of the cool things about Skyscanner is their ‘explore everywhere’ feature that populates with travel suggestions and their approximate prices, giving you a bit of inspo when you’re not sure where to holiday…only that you need to holiday. Last minute travel ideas anyone?
Groupon
Trustpilot: 4 ⭐
Groupon is a coupon website (hence the name) that partners with local sellers to provide deals to customers. They offer savings across many categories, from beauty and fitness to local attractions and, yes, travel.
It works as a middle-agent, providing potential customers with a cheaper price if they purchase the deal through Groupon. It can be a great way to discover new experiences, travel options, and hotels that you might not otherwise have been aware of.
How it can help
TL;DR—As a source of potential discounts on a wide range of hotels, activities, and flights.
Groupon Travel can be a great potential source of savings when it comes to hotels, activities, and flights, providing you with packaged deals for affordable prices.
However, just like with all the other sites we’ve spoken about, it pays to be cautious and do additional research.
Make sure to look up reviews before booking anything, both on external sites and the individual Groupon package you’re considering. You can take it a step further by calling the direct provider of the service—if it’s a cruise deal, for example, call the cruise line—to confirm if the Groupon is valid. You may even be able to get the Groupon price directly from the provider.
It’s an additional step, but one that can help ensure you’re actually getting a real deal. #smartermoneymoves
Aldi Holidays
Trustpilot: Doesn’t even have one yet.
Raise your hand if you had ‘special buys in the skies’ on your bingo card? That’s not our one liner by the way, it’s Aldi’s. Aldi Holidays is a budget vacation service from Australia’s third largest supermarket chain, offering cheap vacation packages in the same vein as their special buys.
You’re provided with a small selection of holiday destinations, packaged for your convenience, that you can either enquire about for more information or book immediately. Aldi Holidays is yet another middle-agent platform, with all bookings handled by Queensland-based Ignite Travel Group (interestingly enough, owned by Flight Centre).
How it can help
TL;DR—As a provider of bundled holiday packages to specific destinations.
Aldi Holidays provides choice vacations in a convenient little bundle, offering complete itineraries (depending on package), flights, a sizeable travel window, and low deposits. It can be a wonderful option to consider, especially if a destination you’ve always wanted to visit comes up for grabs.
The fact that Aldi Holidays bundles experiences, flights, and accommodation together is a massive selling point for their packages, but (say it with me), it’s usually a good idea to do some extra research before booking.
Aldi Holidays has included a ‘valued at’ section as part of their package, highlighting the deal you’re getting, but it’d be wise to treat that with a grain of salt. Compare the package to direct providers of the service to ensure you’re getting the best deal possible.
One thing to note is that the packages also have something called a ‘single traveller surcharge, which appears to be an additional fee charged for, you guessed it, single travellers. This could make the packages significantly pricier if you want to enjoy a solo holiday.
If you were wondering whether it’s cheaper to travel independently or with a tour, join the club, and read the blog we wrote exploring this topic.
Final Boarding Call
There are lots of hotel and travel sites out there, with vastly different reputations and with widely differing prices. It can feel overwhelming to try and find the best deals for cheap trips online. The best rule of thumb is treat the above sites, or any third party, as a research resource, not as the end goal.
They can help you sift through the information and locate the best deals from the most reputable sources. Always do more research—through Google, customer reviews, reddit discussions, Product Review, Trustpilot—to create a fully-formed opinion before clicking purchase.
And when you do decide to book your holiday, it may be better to go through the direct provider of a service, rather than an agent, both financially and for peace of mind. And hey, you can always negotiate.
But this is just the start: we’ve actually got some great tips on how to plan a holiday on a budget, with everything from the best time to book flights to where to eat out.
